Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft co defendant caught shoplifting

i was with a friend who got caught shoplifting,we both was arrested.but he stole everything,and was caught with the items on him.but they charge both of us with the crime.i'm currently going to for his charge.is this to be convicted of his charge?

You are most likely charged as an accessory to the crime. Just because your friend got caught with the goods does not excuse you from the crime if you were the "look out". If it can be shown that you knew what your friend was doing and was helping, then you are just as guilty. This would all be evidenced by video and/or testimony by the loss prevention agent.

If they believe you had knowledge of the theft, played a role (like look out) or did nothing to stop it. You are equally at fault and can be charged.
