I made the down payment on a loan I cosigned. Am I a co owner, and is the money I gave as a down payment considered a gift?

Why would it be and did you want it to be a gift? If you did not specifically stated on the contract you signed that the money is a gift or you wrote on the check that it was a gift or on any other piece of paper, the money is not going to be considered a gift.
