A few years ago I was served a subpoena for collection on a credit card. I settled it out of court by promising to make payments of $100.00 a month until the sum of $4500.00 was paid without default. I reached this amount without default in October of 2006. I wrote the lawyers a letter asking about this with a copy of the agreement and they did not respond. I have continued to pay the $100.00 monthly payments and I have wrote them a fews more letters but still no response. If I call them I get voicemail and they don't return my calls. I recently wrote to the Collection company and I have not heard anything from them either. What should I do?

Send a letter certified, return receipt. Then you have proof when they pick the letter up. This will be helpfull later on if they refuse to respond this time.

That is a good idea, I will do that. Thanks. What should my next step after that be. Should I hire a lawyer? I just seem to be getting no where with these people.

In the letter give them ten or twenty days to respond.

I don't think you need a lawyer. Let's see what happens after you send the letter. You may be suprised.

I have a book with example of letters and forms for debt collection. I could email it you like, just pm your email, I can send it out.

If you are payed up, and they are ingoring you just to get more money, they could be sued in Federal Court.

Sounds like they have breached the agreement.
