My wife wrote a check that bounced a few years ago. Personally, I have never written a check that bounced. I told her she just needs to pay it and she did. Problem, they took the collection action against me and not her for writing it. It's on my credit report and not hers. It was her checking account of which I was just added. I know in many states they must go after both or the one who wrote it first and then the spouse. Is it legal to discriminate on who they take collection action against in Washington State?
