I am a student a Villanova University. The other day there was an incident in which I was coming in my dorm with a bottle of diet coke. The public saftey officer stopped me as I showed my villanova i.d. and asked what was in the bottle. I said it was just diet coke but he continued to question what was in it and threated to taste it to see what was in it. He then told me to throw it out right there in front of him or I would be written up for alcohol citation. I was not drunk, and just feel like the public saftey officer had no right to stop me when other people were stumbling by and being obviously intoxicated. I need someone to help me understand my rights and what authority public saftey has, do they have the right to question me randomly and force me to throw out my property? help!

A: They have the right to question you randomly. If you wanted the stuff tested, you should've insisted and given the cop the drink.
