college support after age 19

My child is in her freshmen year of college out of state. She will be 19 soon. Is it even a possibility that post majority support will be ordered in Alabama if it was not a part of the original divorce decree? We have been divorced for 12 years. She received some financial aid, but I have paid over $7000.00 dollars in expenses for the first semester.

Probably not. Support stops at age of majority and unless it was awarded originally, very hard to get it added. Only a few states actually award support through college.

In NY they will often extend to 21 under these circumstances. I don't know the situation in AL, but it is definitely worth calling an attorney and finding out.
