College Support

I have a daughter who wants me to look into getting support from her dead beat father while she's attending college. This man has not been a part of her life in any way and I haven't did anything to prevent him from being a part of her life. It disturbs me that he decides to contact her after all these years especially since she is now 18. I'm thinking he figures he's dodged paying child support, which I'm assuming he has.

Now my daughter wants me to pursue some legal action to see if he can somehow be made to help pay for her college. Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably not. Has paternity even been established? Most states will not force a NCP to pay for college unless they agree. The fact there appear s to be no court order at all will make it near impossible. He has the right to contact her since she is an adult. If she wants nothing to do with him she should tell him but of course I would not count on him paying for college.
