Hello!

I currently attend college in the state of Virginia. A girl who I thought was a friend actually ended up stealing money out of my drawer. Long story short, I managed to piece it together that it most likely was her that took it but had no proof. Recently, which I know is illegal and wrong, I had a chance to look into her bank account, in which, she deposited the exact amount that I was missing in the same week that my money went missing. I had filed a complaint with the security office at my college the same day that it went missing, but obviously they can't really do anything. Now with this newly found proof, which I obviously cannot use, how can I tell officials it was her that took my money?

Thank you in Advance,
Average College Kid

Let's assume she stole $500 from you.
Twenty minutes later someone deposited $500 into her bank account.

You can't prove that $500 is your $500.

You've learned a sad truth.

Don't trust many people.
In fact, some would say only trust yourself.

You still don't have proof. You can't prove that it was your money and you can't even prove that she's the one who made the deposit and not a family member or friend.

but how can I tell officials it was her that took my money?

It's probably best that you don't tell any "officials" she took the money. What you have is not proof that she is the one who took it. Sorry.

You can report the theft to the police. If it is a large enough sum of money, they might investigate it as a crime.

Leaving cash anywhere in the dorm is a really bad idea, especially if more than a few bucks. If you do not have a bank account, I would get one. Or, if your family is the one sending you the money, have them load it on a Visa card, then keep it in a secure location.
