Complaining against a online business

I recently had a bad dealing with a website business online and decided to put my story up on rippoffreport.com Now the owner of the business says she is going to sue me over slanderous remarks about her business and for losing her business. I do have the right to voice my opinion if a company did not me wrong?

wavryder - Your post would probably go better under the Misc. Topics catagory, as it really doesn't have a proper home in any other catagory I can see. As for the problem, you have every right to make a report against a company, as long as you don't say anything that is untrue, or otherwise harmful against the person or the business. Making a general bad report does not fall under either of those catagories.

It is common that smaller businesses will make threats to scare you into taking down any negative press you may have posted. Playing on fear is a common tactic. Assuming your complaint posted against the company follows the above criteria, you are well within your rights. Best of luck!

If what you wrote is true, the owner of the business can yell all she wants because the absolute defense to a defamation case is that what was spoken was truth. And if it gives you any peace of mind as to the likelihood of her claims, the appropriate cause of action for defamation for a written statement as it is here is libel not slander.
