I am a resident of Maryland but while running a car down to North Carolina for my work I got a citation for 77 in a 55. It was about half a mile after a decrease from a 70 zone to a 55 zone. I was given a trial date but the officer told me if I went down to the courthouse on the first tuesday of May that I could get the speed reduced and not have to go to court. From what I have read if I get nailed with 77 in a 55 I would get six points and an automatic suspention as well as a night in jail. In addition the points and suspention would transfer to my Maryland licence. I was planning on going on the first tuesday of May and asking for it to be reduced to 74 in a 55 which would only be 3 points no jail and no suspention. Is all this accurate and is it what you would recommend that I do. Thanks

What's complicated?

Do what the cop said.

OR plead not guilty and have a trial.

Your call.

Let me refraise that

I know that part of it is simple. My questions are basicly:
1. Is all my research as far as the points and penalties correct?
2. Would it transfer to my MD licence?
3. Do they often allow a reduction when you go to these types of things?
I have already read about each of these on the internet but got some conflicting stories. I just want to have a full understanding of what I need when I go to N.C.
