I have put a down payment on a car with a salvage title. I signed an agreement with the seller but I have changed my mind and wish not to complete the purchase. Is there a way I can legally get a refund of at least part of my downpayment? Thank you.

I have not asked them yet.

A salvage title, huh?

That could be a problem, have you looked at this?

Did you pay the deposit pursuant to a written purchase contract?

Do you have a receipt for the deposit issued by the seller?

In the future, don't purchase ANYTHING which requires you to leave a deposit over $1.00.

Any amount over $1.00 is a way to eliminate you changing your mind.

Nothing is ever worth leaving a deposit, even a home.
But, any real estate transaction is far different than a simple personal property transaction.

Start there. If they say sure no problem here's your refund then all is well. If they say no, ask them the reason. Then go home and read what you signed and see if you find your answer there.
