My association has filed a lien against my condo for maintenance fees that are owed. Since I am disputing the amount owed, should I contest the lien, and if so, how? Also, what are the legal ramifications of doing so? The lien was placed almost 6 weeks before i received a letter from the attorney's office, and I'm certain that there should be some sortof time frame for these actions. Thank you for you assistance.

Cont'd.

Also, if I pay the amount they are demanding so as not to undergo the foreclosure, will that then mean that I have no further recourse?

They will have to hold a court hearing to prove the amount claimed. You can contest the amount owed. I suggest you write the attorney with your explanation.

Cont'd.

OK thanks for the advice. Ive already typed up a letter to the attorney, but if I send the money do I lose any future claims? I assume I'll have to file a countersuit in order to recoup the excess money they cost me...
