I was hired by a company only to find that the person who would be training me was a former co-worker who had been fired from the company. I was concerned this situation would be an extremely uncomfortable one and contacted the HR Mgr to see if there might be an alternative plan for training, but did tell her if that was what would be required of me, I would proceed, no problem -- just wanted to try and asked her to please keep this request confidential. In her reply email she did assure me that this would remain a confidential request. Now I find that the individual who would have been my immediate supervisor did indeed reveal to the person in question who was the former co-worker that I had "some sort of issue" with training with her. I am very angry that my confidentiality was breached in this way. I have requested they help me out in this situation by smoothing this embarrassing situation over somehow since they are the ones who broke the confidentiality. Now they are refusing to email with me and say they will only speak over the telephone. What can I do to make them be accountable for this unfortunate and embarrassing situation? Anything?
