Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Confused by the law

I was charged by information in a Brevard County, Florida circuit with Grand Theft (F2) over $20,000. The offense actually occured in Cook County, Illinois (chicago) and that jurisdiction would not extradite. How can Florida charge a person who did not commit a crime within their state?
 
I don't think you can be charged that way. Can you post the indictment? or would you be willing to send it to me?
 
It seems Illinois refused to extradite him from what he said in the other thread.

This is a curious case.
 
I can see Illinois declining to extradite him, but for the life of me I can't imagine how Broward County Florida gets subject matter jurisdiction over a crime that happened in Chicago....?

They can't.

What it looks like to me is that they're trying to get jurisdiction over him.

We're missing some pieces of the puzzle here.

I assure you that there was nothing within the state of florida that could be used against me as far as a continuation of criminal conduct or any other abstract subject matter.

The car was in a garage in my condo building, it was not used in any other type of crime, and was not connected to the reason the sheriff's office was looking for me. They had my name, address and apartment number in relation to another matter they were investigating, not remotely related to the vehicle in question here. When chicago declined to extradite me, they filed a grand theft auto against me, then a month or so later amended the charge to simply grand theft.

I don't think you have much to worry about with this.

Extradition is rarely defeated.

Extradition was not defeated...chicago simply didn't care. You see, only the most serious offenses are subject to extradition...murder, rape, etc. The warrant for me was a collar county warrant, only. That is the strange part of this. If you notice the brevard county sheriff's office report, right below the "MANDATORY APPEARANCE IN COURT", BOX, there is a hold placed on me for Cook County, Illinois. They simply would not extradite. I have sent all reports to JH for your review. Please advise as soon as possible.

JH only sent me the "Amended Information".
I think I know where this was headed.
This appears to have emanated from some sort of civil disagreement.
Did this also involve a family member, friend, lover, ex-spouse?
How is it alleged the vehicle was ever in your possession?
Was it taken for a test drive, leased, purchased, or attempt to purchase (financing failed)?

How many pages did you send to JH?

If I don't finish this tonight, I'll get on it tomorrow afternoon.

If possible edit and "XXX" through my name & "357" if you can. I still don't want people knowing who I am, got to protect myself, or delete that particular thread, now you guys know who I am.
 
You guys both need to delete all personal information from your posts. Name and DOC number. Bother are identifiers that could hurt him in the case.
