about a yr ago I rec'd a MDJ hearing notice...Plaintiff...Chase

notified MDJ of notice to defend

not long after, rec'd notice of hearing cancellation.

nothing rec'd for new MDJ court date

rec'd via USPS a 20 day notice "I have been sued" from the court house through regular mail - not certified.

called the court house and asked what I needed to do...went and filed a "response of denial" within the 20 days as instructed.

I have since moved several times since this occurred.

To date I am yet to receive anything additional from my "response" filed with the Prothonotary.

Please explain what actually occurred here. How can I receive a notice from the court house - (notice of being sued) - when I never formally had a hearing at the MDJ level?

Thank you

In what state do you reside?

If you haven't been served, why worry? If you have been served, defend?

If you live in Florida or Texas, no worries. Your wages can't be attached for these kinds of debts. In fact, very little will come of this in Texas or Florida.

I guess the ? is - how can they file at the courthouse when we never had a hearing at the DJ level?

Where would they get a docket number to file?

More than likely nothing has been filed. This may be a sham suit. Sometimes these scavenger bill collectors file these suits at old addresses. I suggest you inquire about the suit at the courthouse mentioned in the documentation you furnished.
