I need some assistance regarding a situation I have with a jewelry store. I purchased a ring some two years ago with the option of always trading it in towards a newer ring. I just did that, and when I went to pick up the new ring, I was accused of stealing the trade in back. They would not give me my merchandise and accused me in front of several people including my 11 year old daughter. It was humiliating and the police were called. They insisted on reviewing tapes and the head of security would contact me. Of course they reviewed, nothing was there, and I received a very insincere apology and that was that. When I returned home, my husband was livid I still took the new ring (at that point, I was so humiliated I just took the ring and left asap). He is outraged at this point and so he wants me to return the ring, which is doable since I am within my alloted time frame. I once again go to the store and work with a different manager. Every thing is fine until it's time to pick up the ring again and they now tell me the head of security will meet with me on his schedule, not mine, and they have not only the ring that has already been paid for but my two carat center stone that is not theirs but was mine from my first wedding set. I am livid and this cannot be legal practice. What are my rights?

This doesn't sound like a criminal matter. Not yet, anyways.

You have the right to have back whatever is yours. So write them a letter demanding your possessions. If they don't give them, consider suing them and pressing criminal charges.
