Consent of age

I believe my 15 year old son is having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. Is this rape? If not is there a civil right I can use to stop this.

The age of consent is 16 in New Jersey so his girlfriend is actually committing a crime. I don't know what you mean by using a "civil right" to keep them apart. Being that they are so close in age, she will likely not be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. However, you could use it to run her off from him.

Beware however, young sexually active teens do strange things when you try to force them apart.

Its your duty to protect your child. Do not be afraid of how the teen will react. "Your" the BOSS. Forbid all contact between the two and if need be ask about getting aprotective order against the older minor. By the it might be worth asking if the 17 year could be charged as adult thus give you leverage to get them apart.
