Hi,

I have a question regarding what proper contract or agreement I need to file for an art artifact. I'm not quite sure if this is the correct forum for this, but thought I'd try. My mother left an art artifact with my aunt for safe keeping. Unfortunately my mother had moved to Hawaii and was not able to take the artifact with her. My mother would like to make sure that her sister (in Ohio) would keep her end of the bargain in keeping it safe. She wants to form a legal contract or agreement, like a promissiory note but legally binding. Can you tell me what steps I need to do to make this happen? I mean, are there forms I can send them or do I need a lawyer? If anyone can help with this would be great.

Thanks,
anemmers

What is the aunt getting out of this? If she's not deriving any benefit from looking after the artifact, there is no legally binding agreement.

If you want to do it yourself, draft the agreement, make it clear who the parties are and what obligations they have, and get each to sign and witness it. Check out the following link: https://www.legaldocs.com/legaldocs.htm/p/General-Contract. If you want to do it up right, get a lawyer to do it.

You don't need to file it.
