My jurisdiction is: Ohio

A lady bought all the appliances in my house 3 days ago because I am moving. She could not pay in full, so I made her sign "I owe you" paper. The paper disappeared when she left ( I believe she took it) and that was the only copy, she asked me to make her a copy of the paper before she left, but after she and the paper is gone, she never asked for a copy again. I have called her several time to sign another paper, she ignored my calls. I only know her name and her cell phone number. In the paper she signed and took away, she promised to pay on Aug 20th.
What should I do? Should I file a police report?
Please, I need advice on what I should do and how I should go about it.
Thank you.

Yes she did. I agreed to let her take the appliances and pay what she has now, then to pay the rest on Aug 20th. she signed to pay the rest but left with the paper.

Might be a good idea to go ahead an call the police. You are never going to see her again, or your money.

Aside from that, what good is the IOU anyway? She has the appliances. How do you know that any of the info she gave you (address, etc) is any good in the first place? She could have easily given you bogus info, and still split.

If she didn't have the money, then it should have either been a case of they will sit right here until you do, or thanks anyway - next buyer in line please!!!
