Contractor Screwed me on concrete patio

I recently got a concrete patio at my home. Long story short the contractor did a really bad job and asked him to fix it several times. But every time he tried he make it worst. Finally told him to gather his stuff and to not come back. I asked home for my money back and to remove the botched concrete job. Basically he told me "to bad so sad". Haven't heard from him since. If I take him to small claims court is there a way to place a lien on this bank account, retirement check..........he really does not have much. What is the best way I can get my money back?

Small claims is about all you have.

In Texas, placing a lien on his property isn't easy, either.

You might be able to complain to the police, if he isn't licensed and bonded.

That won't get you your money back (it might help), but it'll make him answer for being not bonded and unlicensed!
