Contractor Walked

Unfortunately I paid the contractor in full and he failed to complete the job. It has been over 6 months. He was a family friend who promised to return. Can I still take him to Small Claims Court even though much time has passed? Thanks

6 months is a very short period of time. I would find it highly unlikely that the statue of limitations would prevent you from filing a claim and I don't recall seeing anything less than one year - even in contracts within which some state that all suits for breach of contract must be filed within one year.
