On July 3rd a roofing contractor came to our home and gave us a bid on repairing our roof and our carport. He told me I had to give him a deposit of $300.00 which I did. He said his company would be calling us the end of the week or the first of the next week. No one called,so I called then on the 11th of July. I was told they don't call untill they are getting closer to doing the job. I need to know so that I can make arragements to be here. No one called me back, but the next day a supervisor came to ny house,he took me on the roof to show me what they would be doing. He told me that a crew would be at me house the next day. At 3:45 pm I called the company to ask when was someone coming, I had waited here all day. The office girl put me on hold and came back saying they were on their way. I said I was leaving for a family dinner and that it was too late she said should I have them turn around,I said I guess,noone starts this late in the day. Then the owner called me his name is Kimbal. He I told him that I do need to be here. He said it was nto written down. Then he starts to yell at me that if he turns the crew around that he will charge me a turnaround fee. I said this was not the way to treat a customer and he just kept yelling at me so I said I will not take this abuse on the phone send the crew. He said if you turn them away at your door he would bill me for the entire job. I said just send them to do the job. I was not paying a turnaround fee. And then I hung up the phone.
Then I called my family and they all arranged to have the family dinner here so I could be here. I also called a brother-inlaw of mine to come over when they got here so I would have some backup.Men treat men different. Then the supervisor Larry called and told me the crew was nearly here. I said I will be here and that I changed my plans so they could do the work and that I won't take the abuse Kimball gave me over the phone. So I waited and onone showed up. I called the office again and April said they turned around the crew, I asked her why she said Kimball said to. I told her to have him call me. He did call me and was just as abusive he said I told him to to turn the crew around I said no I didn't I told you to send them. I also told Larry to send them. He them yelled at me and told me that he would not work with me and that I lost my $300.00 deposit. But if I wanted him to invoice me for another 150.00 for the profit he lost he would to the job. All I could say was I would be talking to him. I wish I could remember all the abuse he yelled at me but I was in shock and I knew this was very hard on my mother it is her house and she is 81.
