I got a ticket for contributing to minors in the state of Idaho. The thing was, several weeks ago I bought a keg that got taken back to my place and then later got taken home with a friend of mine who is 18. He lives with several friends who are also under 21 years old. About a week and a half after that night, they had a party with what was left of the keg and some other alcohol bought by someone else, and the police got called. They were all charged with mips and after tracing the numbers on the keg shell back to me, I got a visit from the police and a ticket for contributing to minors. I had a court appointment today and went, where the judge said there was a specific punishment that would not be lowered or raised, which was 6 days in jail and a 500 dollar fine. I am looking to find a lawyer, but am attending college and working part time so hard to find the time. Finals are comming up so I am looking for some legal advise. I pled not guilty in court and have a pretrial confrence schedualed for next week and was wondering what my options were. I can see paying a fine, but not the jail time for my first offense, that and with finals I can't afford to miss school. Any help and advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.
