About how long will it take me to recieve my court date? its been 2 weeks already and still haven't recieved mine, and i dont even know how to contact court.

In general it takes around 3 to 4 weeks. Far as contacting the court thats easy. Look them up in yellow pages or online. Type in county name then superior court

ohh. and when i recieve the court date will the court date be like a week away or months? thanks for the quick response.

Probably a week or two depends on how busy the docket is. If you want earlier notice contact the court if they have it on schedule they can tell you date.

What state are you in, and were the police actually involved?

In most instances, you would have been issued a citation at the scene if the police were called. If not, how long it might take for a warrant or summons to be generated will depend upon state law and upon the nature of the offense. The state may have 6 months to a year to file their case if you have not yet been given a court date and this is a misdemeanor matter.

Sometimes the Loss Prevention Officer must go down to the courts to actually file the charges. Even if the police are called, sometimes they are there to take a report and run your information into the system to verify its accuracy and whether or not you have any active warrants.

I used to work Loss Prevention in an area which mandated the LP file their own charges if the amount was under a felony. I would usually wait until I have a stack of charging documents and charge all individuals at once. I had one year and a day to file charges, and sometimes it took me a month before I had enough cases to bring to the courts.

Be patient, check the online court case information and if you have any questions, contact the court.

Side note: You gave your correct information to the LP/Police? If you gave inaccurate information, this slows the process down and can add additional charges.

Sorry for the late response. Ok so yes the police were called and the value of stolen goods were over 200 but under 250. and it has been 3 weeks so far and i still did not recieve my court date AND i called the superior court to ask if they knew when my court date is and they said i was not in the system.. how long will i have to wait for my court date? i hate having to think about this everyday. :dunno:
