Purchased our home March 2, 2007. The only thing listed on the seller's disclosure notice was "very minor settling as normal for area." We questions the house inspector about the "minor settling" and he said that there was no foundation problems and that is was on settling. We now have several cracks in the ceilings (mainly between the entry and living room) My husband recently meet the wife of the original builder of our house. She descibed several unique things about our house, but she also said it has columns in the entry. Our house does not have columns. We feel that the columns were removed at some point and that they were load bearing. The removal of these load bearing columns has now left us with a house worth a lot less than we paid a year ago. The house was built Oct 2002. Do we have a case to repair our house and if so against who?

When you had your house inspected, did you get a warranty with it?

If not, then you need to do more investigation.

What you have now is merely speculation.
