I have a credit card bill in the amount of $4500 for City bank which was not paid. I can dispute some of the charges, but I did not get to it. Due to a family crises, we had to move over sea and I lost my business (CA CORP.). I'm unemployed and the same with my wife. Most of the money we had went for taking care of our family health issue over sea. We are now working on getting our life back together. I have a house in CA which I'm now renting, and I will have to sell very soon. My mail was forwarded to a friend in CA, and we now received a letter from a collection agency about the above bill. We might get a couple more letters like that from other credit card companies in the next few months, as we are not able to pay. We are not planning or can afford to be back in CA in the next couple of years. I wanted to know if I ignore these letters will it hold me from selling my house or have a judgment against me that will hold me from entering the States in the future. Can I be arrested if there is a judgment against me when I entern the States? We are all (family + Kids) American citizens. What if we don't get back to the states for the next 4-5 years, will the limitation law protect?

There are no debtors prisons in the US.

You can file bankruptcy or you can ignore the debt.

Nothing more can or will happen to you as a result of not paying.

Stay away from the USA for 5-10 years.

The economy sucks.

Take care of your health issue.

It looks like I will have to stay over sea for the next few years anyway. I was concern with just entering the States (get held up at the border) in case I need to come by and sell my house. Can I file bankruptcy remotly from over sea?

Can I file bankruptcy remotely from over sea? Also wanted to know if they can put a lean against our home in CA? I consider to sell, but I might need to hold for a couple of years until market recovers, unless it will be more difficult to sell due to all collectors. I'm keeping my bank account to almost zero, but I have 401k account from past years, can they touch it? In case yes, should I pay the penalty and move the money over sea?

Get your 401K money out now.
Pay the penalty, the money is worth more overseas.

You can give a friend power of attorney to sell your house.

You don't need to come back to do that.

Do it before they place a lien against your house.

If a lien has been placed it will not stop the sale.

Take all your money and keep it near you.

This government is crooked.

Get your money before they find a way to steal it or tax.

Come back when it gets better in 10 years or for a visit anytime.
