My jurisdiction is: Massachusetts

A friend of mine borrowed my wal mart and fashion bug credit cards. She said she would pay the bills and she did for the first few months she had the bills. After a while she was late with her payments and the stores started calling me, I told them my mom paid those bills and that I would talk to her, and she said that she had paid it and they were wrong. Well she stopped paying the bills altogether and now I have credit agencies coming after ME to pay debts that arent mine. She owes a lot more than I thought she had owed previously, altogether a little more than $2,000. I don't know what I should do at this point, I don't care about getting extra money for pain and suffering or whatever, I just want those bills put in her name, to clear my credit history, and to have her pay them!!!!! Any advice for me? I'm a college student, I live with my parents, and I barely make enough to keep myself out of trouble, and now I have crappy credit because of this bitch!!!! I already looked up small claims court and I can't take her there because she owes more than $2,000 and I can't afford much to file a claim!!! Somebody help!!!

The credit cards are in your name; in the eyes of the credit card companies/collection agencies, etc., you are responsible for them. You are the one who made the mistake of loaning these cards to a friend. The companies are NOT going to put the bills in her name.

Attempt to work out a deal with the companies where you can pay off what YOU owe and then turn around and sue your friend in Small Claims for the $2000.

And never, ever loan credit cards to anyone.
