Here's my story..I need to know how to separate our credit after 15yrs. of marriage..We are not planning to divorce or separate, However our situation is troubling.. My husband was laid off last year and my job cut hours, we fell behind 2 months on our mortgage. we have attempted a modification with our lender but are still in review. since then we've exhausted our savings and had to also use credit to take care of our family..my husband did get another job, but my job has not changed..all our payments have fallen behind..I now have charge offs on three accounts and have made payment arrangements to re-pay those accounts. will these charge offs hinder our chance for modification. and if so and we lose our home, how can we separate our credit so we can rent somewhere to live? Can we file bankruptcy and elminate all the credit card debt, and keep our home?

As long as you're married, your credit will be linked. That doesn't mean it's one and the same.

You are each supposed to be evaluated individually, marriage notwithstanding. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way.

I don't see a legal use here, other than the fact you wish to save your home. You might want to investigate bankruptcy. You can normally speak to an attorney for free to discuss the bankruptcy option.

Why not talk to a couple bankruptcy attorneys in your area? See how BK could benefit your family and how it might help you save your home. At this point, if that's what you want to do, BK appears to be your best option.

Once you get married your credit linked.Well for further clarification you can contact with bank executive they will help you.
