While walking I had a car cut out of a driveway in front of me (nearly hitting me). I hit the car, apparently leaving a scratch. The police were called in and I was given a citation for Criminal Damage to property. The citation said that appearance at the municipal court was not mandatory, so I just paid the amount listed under "Bond". The back however says that if it is a violation similar to that against a state law, I could be summoned by the court for restitution. My questions are
1. Is this serious enough that the court would summon me or would they just let the municipal court deal with it?
2. If summoned, would I likely be fined or have to serve jail time?
This is my first misdemeanor offense, if that matters.
