I purchased a full blooded boxer dog from a reputable breeder in July of the past year.
In late August I had to go to the hospital, and recovery took several months which i did at my parents, as my husband and his step daughter were impossible.
We divorced in November, and my husband claimed that since he had registered the dog in his name with the ack it was now his legally, and made a huge crying fit until I gave up. Now I am rethinking this matter.
First of all, was it legal for him to register a dog that I purchased in his name, not mine?
And I now want the dog back, as it is mine, and I was very attached to it, having been training him for autism therapy use. Now that i am back on my feet, I want the dog, which is being left for long hours in his dump of a trailer, and I feel that my time with him would be far more fruitful.
This situation is one that i wonder if I have any legal rights in.
Thank you

You could small claims him for the dog-- or the amount of $$ you paid for the dog-- If you have confirmation that you paid for the dog. However he could counter sue you for the amount of $$ he has since spent on the dog.
