I have a question - I have been awarded 50/50 custody of my two children and I am still paying child support. I live in PA - Everyone I talk to says I should not be paying - I have never been late and never made any waves - but I have recently been unemployed and I have heard many times this week that I do not need to be paying at all.... Is this true?

Thanks for your help

If the court ordered you to pay child support then you have to pay it. 50/50 custody does not mean no support unless both parties make the same income. If you are capable of making more than your ex, you'll likely owe something. I do not know what the PA guidelines say but you should google them or see if you can find a PA support calculator. 50% custody normally means you pay reduced support due to a parenting time discount, but it does not mean CS is eliminated completely.

Try contacting the CS enforcement bureau in your state to see if you are eliglbe for a reduction. How much are you ordered to pay now?

Looks like you want to start at Rule 1910.16. IT tells you how to figuer it.

Does this help you?
