Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Database info

I have yet to confirm this but one of my sources says that all the retail theft databases were bought by one. This means any database user will have access to names in all databases if this is accurate. I believe they will still operate under their own names for now but names can be viewed from other databases since they have shared owner. Example if Sears uses database A and Walmart uses database B either database will be able to see names from both. If I get more info or actual confirmation I will update this

I recall reading a story back about the middle of January about Neiman-Marcus pushing some kind of merger of the theft databases, and credit card purchases.

The thought was to create one massive database that would be the "hoily grail" of retail: shoplifting, employee theft, credit card protection and tracking, and of course marketing.

They wanted to compete with Google's collection, but only in the retail space.

They were trying to get the big players, Penney's Sears, K-Mart, Target, Dayton's, Dillards, Walmart, etc.. to cooperatively create and mange the THING.

I guess we'll know sooner or later.

I spoke with NRMA on this and they seem to be keeping their name but will be under the GIS so yes it appears all the databases will now share info and basically be that "Holy Grail"
