My daughter had been dating Todd for a few weeks when he asked her to join him on a family skiing trip to Colorado in Dec. All she was supposed to pay for was any incidentals she wanted to partake in. She agreed to go against my better judgement as she really just started seeing this guy. He told her that her mother had purchased the tickets and everything was a go. My daughter has never spoken to the mother. 2 weeks passed and my daughter realized that this guy was not all he was portraying himself to be:dg and had second thoughts about continueing the relationship. It was then that he told her she would have to pay for her airplane ticket if they broke up. I told her not to pay as his offer was a gift and I didn't think she should pay him $300 he is claiming. If he didn't buy the tickets I would think he COULDN"T bring a suite anyway. Reguardless who is right? The ex boyfriend or Dad?

You're correct. She doesn't owe him anything because he didn't give her anything. If he's actually already sued, she could apply to have the suit dismissed for having no cause of action.

On the facts above, I'd say she probably doesn't owe the mother anything either because the tickets were a gift.
