Dealership messed up my titling?

I bought a certified preowned car in March. I discovered this week that they never replaced the registration sticker on the windshield so it has the wrong expiration date, meaning if in parked or pulled over I might get a ticket for an expired registration when the registration is in fact still current. I went straight to the dealership, since I paid them to do the titling, and they told me I will need to contact the dmv to get a new sticker. My question is, shouldn't it be the dealerships job to deal with the dmv since I paid them for it, and it wasn't done correctly?

If the dealership gave you or mailed to you a new registration, the sticker would have been issued at the same time(unless things are different in your state). Is it possible they mailed you a new sticker and you did not notice it in all of your paperwork? It happens quite often.

The sticker is set to expire in December but my car is registered through March. They handed me my registration paper when it was done but I was never given a sticker. There was one already on there, which I can only guess was needed for test drives. The owner went from them to me so the sticker needed to be changed but it wasn't.

Registration and sticker normally happen at the same time so it sounds like either they lost it, or it got lost in the mail or you lost it. You can call and insist that they never provided it to you and you paid for it therefore they need to get a replacement sticker for you, or you can go to the DMV and get a replacement sticker yourself. It should be a small fee(In TX it is 7.00)
