Hello - Is it possible for me (44 yrs old, female, unmarried) to obtain my deceased father's medical records? My parents are divorced, my father re-married in 1981 and his wife/widow is currently living in Florida with her new husband. Unfortunately, she is . . . not interested in having her dead husband's children interrupting her life, to be kind. He lived and died in Pennsylvania, I am in Maryland.

He and I shared an unusual medical condition which may have progressed to a life-ending tumor for my father. I would like to know EXACTLY what his medical diagnoses, prognoses and prescribed methods of control may have been. My life seems to depend upon it.

Thank you for your time and I hope there is some recourse available to me. Have a great day!

If your step mother will not help you may need to petition the courts to allow you access. Talk to the doctors first and see if they are willing before you get a lawyer involved. Have "proof" that you are the daughter and ask the holders of the medical records what steps you need to take.
