I am 45 years old. My husband recently passed away unexpectedly. We owed the federal government over $10,000.00 and were making payments up until his death. He was the sole provider, now i cannot afford to make these payments. He did leave behind a couple assets. 1 truck which is payed off, and another car which i am currently making the payments on - both of which were in his name. Before i inform the goverment of seize of payments, how can i protect myself from having said assets seized by goverment?

Even the IRS is limited to what they can seize and they have to go through certain procedures. My suggestion is to make an appointment with the local office and see what you can work out.
