I have an old debt from 1998, after trying to set up payment plans and getting rejected, getting harassing phone calls at home and at work, I gave up and just let it go about 5 years ago. This debt has been sold to CAVC of Colorado and now to Daniels & Norelli. The original amount was for $3200ish. Now they are claiming that I owe over $15000.00 Since they keep re-opening the account (without my knowledge) it says on my credit report that it was opened in 2003, does this mean the 6 year SOL is inapplicable?
They also filed a judgement in NY that shows up on my CR. I had no knowledge of this and have just become aware of it- it only says "filed" and an absurd amount that is 5x the original amount. Do I have any rights here? I cannot afford an attorney at this time.

If they are only now filing for a judgement you are more than able to show up in court an state your case As for SOL that period starts from the date of your last payment or if a collector can get you to reaffirm the debt ....or you can play dirty look up collection laws they gotta follow alot so do some research an see if you can get them to break the law
