Debt resolved 8 yrs ago, new collector today

I had a cell phone plan with MCI WorldComm back in the 90s which I eventually terminated due to inconsistent billing. So I battled with them directly and then a collector they hired afterward and came to a final resolution 7-8 yrs ago. Now out of no where I have a collection company coming after me. I don't have any documentation as I thought it was done with years ago. Is there a statue of limitation? What are my options? How do I get them to stop calling/harassing me?

What I do probably opens me up to liability for damages to their eardrums so I can't recommend that. You can change your number to unlisted and notify them by letter to stop calling you. There are lots of samples on the net.
