"My husband had some dental work done at an office that I use to work at. His

work ended in Novenber of 2006. Every since then we have made payments

to pay off his account at the office. We have never had a set amount to pay

every month. We missed June and July and possibly August. I spoke with the

office manager in September and she said that we needed to make

arrangements to pay off the debt. I told her that starting on the tenth of that

month we would start sending in money. We payed on the 10th of Sept and

October and she called me in October and told me that we needed to make a

better arrangement. I told her that we would at least pay her 20 dollars a

month and we have ever since then. We just got a letter in the mail saying

that they were going to send us to collections and I can not find any law on it.

We have no written agreement and a verbal agreement to say that we will pay

at least $20 a month which we always pay more. Can they legally send us to

collections in the state of WA?"

According to the FCRA the information on your credit report has to be ACCURATE! I would stop making the payments, and watch your credit report. As soon as it posts to your credit report I would challange it stating that the information is not ACCURATE..(don't say anything else) The credit agency will have to varify the debt...If there is no contract, then there is nothing to varify...Debt erased...

What about???

Since it is at a dental office though, they will have a record of the work that was done on him and then they will be able to show that we have not completely paid off the balance? What then?
