If you paid off a judgment, perhaps this is another case?

Many times, when you pay these scammers, they bring other cases to scam more money out of you.

If they are trying to default you on the judgment you paid off, that isn't legal.

If that is the case, you should defend against it vigorously.

I'm inclined to think, this is another debt that you don't owe these creeps.

They just bought some old debt (on which the statute of limitations has expired) and are trying to steal more of your hard, earned money.

Don't default, whatever you do, because they'll just attach your wages to pay a debt on which the statute of limitations has already expired.

They just sent me paperwork saying i initially owed 17,000 but the court only granted them the value of the car so they are trying to collect the balance as a motion for default judgement

You could TRY and do this pro-se.

But, if you screw it up, you're toast.

Hire a lawyer and defend this action.

Hire the lawyer ASAP.

It'll cost you some money, but if these crooks get their way, they'll get at least $10-15,000 out of you!
