Hello everyone,

I work for a court in the state of PA, it's just an administrative court and we adjudicate decriminalized parking tickets. When I first started, I received a few tickets and was allowed to contest them, then all of a sudden it became a big deal that I was an employee having hearings. We were then told that employees were not permitted to have hearings. I was not told this until I went in to see the judge, and had the tickets dismissed. They wouldn't put them through dispositions and I had to cancel the hearings, making the tickets active again. My job was threatened after this happened. The tickets were never reported to the credit bureau, but they're going to start within the next month. I refuse to pay for something that was technically dismissed, but now my credit is going to be advesrly affected because of this. What can I do about this, if anything at all?

Also, the new boss inquired about this and was told there was no reason that an employee can't have a hearing. But, now it's too late for me to have a hearing since there's only a 30 day window to do so. This happened back in 12/07. Thank you in advance!

Probably too late now, except to pay through the nose and be more careful in the future. I don't know what "technically dismissed" means.

It means they were dismissed by the judge, but I wasn't allowed to put the rulings through. I had to reverse the hearings because my job was threatened. I'm not going to pay for them at this point. Just because I work here doesn't mean they can ticket me thinking I can't do anything about it. They can stay on my record, I just don't want them being reported to my credit. Especially since I now know we're allowed to have hearings, and they're not allowed to deny me the right to a hearing.

I thought I was. Is this not a legal forum to attorneys to respond? Or just everday people giving advice? By, they way, I noticed your response was a little short/snarky, I wasn't being smart when I responded to your question if that's how you took it.
