I had a litter of three Registered puppies for sale so I set up a free web site to advertise the puppies that I had for sale and to post pictures of them I also advertised them online ( on a lot different classified sites ) I had these puppies advertised from $500.00 up to $1,200 .I had quite a few postings online that I would update periodically with updated pictures and information on the puppies . A lady e mailed me and wanted to buy the $500.00 puppy . The puppy that I was willing to sell for that price was not big enough to sell yet , so she gave me a Pay Pal deposit for it in the amount $100.00 Within a week The puppy had health issues so I contacted her and told her I would issue her a refund for the deposit . She said no she still wanted the puppy . Later the puppy developed diarrhea and lost weight so I told her I would refund her deposit She said no she still wanted the puppy. I told her I could not sell her the puppy unless she accepted the fact that I would issue NO health guarantee on it and she would need to sign a statement to that fact . She said that she would get back to me As she had not e mailed me back by the next day I issued her the refund . After that I got a phone call from her husband he was furious and ( among other not so nice things ) he said that he was going to take me to court. After a few more attempts at harassing me I got the following e mail from her

You are the most deceitful person I have ever come across. You knew that I still wanted the puppy after you called and allegedly were worried about the puppy's health yet two days before you sent me this email, you had already posted her up on numerous websites offering her for $1,200. We had a verbal contract and I have our paypal history, our emails, and print outs of your website, including classified postings to prove your breach of contract. You were completely wrong in this and there's no way you would be able to argue and prove otherwise with all the information I have on hand.
As I'm writing this email I am still amazed at the type of person you turned out to be. When I first spoke to you, having not seen the puppy yet, I gave you the benefit of the doubt because of your character. To be let down in this way is beyond words. I hope you sleep well knowing what you did. You made a big mistake and I will do whatever I can to %$@& *%# @* ............................I have so many lawyers in my family telling me that I should take you to court. Maybe I'll see you there
............................The funny thing is the puppy got better and if she had not given me such a hard time I would have happily let her have it
( if she would have been willing to drive the three hundred miles to pick it up). As it turned out I sold it for a reduced price of $200.00 with no health guarantee I have the signed , dated , Bill of Sale to reflect that. I also have proof of the refund that I issued her as well as the emails back and forth reflecting my concern about the puppies health . In the meantime how do I stop the harassment from them ? We never had a written contract either thru e mails or thru Pay Pal so did I have the legal right to refund her deposit considering the circumstances ? Also I live a few hundred miles from her and wonder if she files a case against me do I have to travel all the way to her place to defend my actions ?
