I have been in my apartment complex since halloween of 2007. My lease is up in October of 2008. Recently, I lost my job and have no income to make means to pay my bills. Also, as of about a month ago, the apartment complex went bankrupt and now the bank owns the property.

I called the front office to find out what my options were and I was told that I would have to give 30 days notice, pay my last months rent which would be June's rent and then be out by the end of June. Well on top of that they are asking me to pay an additional one months rent and pay back my concession and forfit my deposit of $344. Totaling approximatley $1200, that would need to be paid 30 days after they do a walk through of my apartment.

I have two small children and no job, no income and I am in desperate need of leaving here and staying with my parents until I can get my feet off the ground. I am also currently in college p/t. What can I do and what are my options?

I do not want this to affect my credit or my renters credit. Please help. I have to give them an answer by June 1st.

The only thing I know of is to pay what you agreed to pay.

Sounds like they are trying to be fair.

If they are working with a bank. Is it possible for them to be a little more lenient about paying it back? I am out of a job and there is no way that I can come up with that kind of cash that fast.
