Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft detained for shoplifting and....

i was stopped at walmart for shoplifting (about $15 worth) and though the officer let me go with a tresspass, he said to me "give your boss a heads up and tell him your side of the story before he hears from me". so he said he is going to call my employer to tell them about this. can he, will he do this???? i'm terrified about losing my job b/c of this. i begged him not to as this would ruin my career. please help!!

There is no law that forbids them from contacting your employer

thanks...but do you think he'd actally go through and do this? i mean, would he bother? how often do cops make such calls? is it a standard thing or was he just trying to scare me? what should i do?

Who told you this the Cop or the store Security that stopped you? Either way we cant say if they would or would not.
