Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Didnt mean to shoplift

1st time offense and im 15
Today in store name, i was looking at some shirts and there was a scarf that looked pretty so i tried it on by wearing it on my neck so i can see how it look like on me.Then i walked around the store to look at other clothes.
Then i proceed to checkout to purchase the shirts and i left the store
and i forgot that i had the scarf on . so the people called me to the back and did all the good stuff like writing my name, ss. etc and so did the police officer and i have a court date.
I didn't mean to take the scarf, i forgot it was on my neck.
what will likely happen in court? pled guilty , not guilty or no contest?
will the judge forgive me since i didn't mean to ?
Can i ask for forgiveness?

Please dont use that as your defense the court will erupt in laughter. Nearly all shoplifters once caught say it was accident and they forgot they had item. True or not its not going to wash and would likely piss off Judge. You need a Lawyer so you can minimize the damage this will cause and hopefully keep you from having a criminal record. Ask your Attorney if Diversion is available in your case

These programs vary ask your PD Briefly they act like a convictin with fines, probation, community service etc. However once you successfuly complete program your cas eis "dismissed"

Judges understand people work or go to school so yes your service can work around your schedule long as you complete it on time
