If anyone could help, Please Do!

I work for a Fortune 500 Company. We have a bid system for new jobs that open up. To bid on the job you have to have your bid in before bidding closes. 10 of us had applied for this job before the bidding had closed. Then my supervisor had an application put in for a co-worker after the bidding had closed. Everyone knew that the job was going to be posted sometime soon because it was open. The job was open for bids for at least a week. This 11th late applicant, got invited to the interview, and got the job over everyone else. I asked my supervisor how this was possible. He told me that "He approached me about the job and told me that he didnt get his aplication in on time. I thought he would be a good applicant for the position, so I called human resources and had the application put in for him." Basically it sounds to me that this guy was picked for the job already. We all got our bids in for the job before it closed. I believe this is discrimination against us 10 applicants. Can I get some input on this situation?

Thank You

What else would you like to know. I'm not to good at all of this.
I'm on way to work now. Look forward to hearing some advice when i get back.

Thanks

Illegal discrimnation is being discriminated due to belonging to a protected class. Such as race, gender, age etc. Otherwise its not normally illegal to disciminate. So for example if all the ten applicants were Asian and the sole late applicant was white you "might" have an arguement

It may have been unfair, but nothing illegal transpired based on your description.

Discrimination is illegal when, and only when, it is based in a characteristic protected by law. We all discriminate every day of our lives; when we buy the blue shirt instead of the green shirt, that's discrimination. When you order chicken instead of steak, that's discrimination. Every single time an employer chooses an employee, they're discriminating against all the other applicants. However, it's only ILLEGAL discrimination if the choice is made on the basis of race, religion, national origin, or other characteristic protected by state, federal or local law.
