Hello,

You can call me DD. I have been working for over 20 years as a Sheriff's deputy. During this time I have endured years of harassment at the hands of the past Sheriff's and their little groupies. I am tired and want to reach my retirement day which should have been May 31st but due to their unprofessionalism, I have to stay here till July 31st. I have had 5 fitness for duties evaluations done on me and I have passed everyone of them. I was assigned to patrols DWI unit and was removed and placed into court security and the only reason they would tell me is that the Sheriff can assign who ever he wants there. I tried to find out why and for how long and they would never give me an answer. I passed my fifth fitness for duty and I was assigned to the DWI unit. Then I got a complaint about me driving to fast like I am the only deputy who speeds. I was again placed into court security and then I had problems qualifying most likely due to the stress I was enduring at their hands. I qualified and was told I had to stay there till I qualified on a moving target. So I have been left at court security and have been denied the over time like the other deputies and other civilian employees. I have lost wages due to their harassment. I have filed a law suit against them but due to my financial situation it is hard to do this. Then recently I decided to run for Sheriff. The preliminary was June 1st and I lost not a big deal, but the next day I receive a call telling me that Lt. Linville wants to talk to me. I contacted him to see why and he informed me that he has a letter to give me taking away my unit and weapon, due an Internal Affaris complaint filed on me and I was notified on February 12th and I was interviewed on February 16th. This was a three day weekend due to a holiday and this gave me no time to seek advise. Nor did I go to the Union because they refused to help me in the past. I did the interview and the complaint was a girl saying I pointed a tazer at her which I swear to God I never did. I did show the tazer to my cousin who is in his mid 20's. Anyway I did not agree for this long drawn out investigation on this matter in fact I know that everyone involved was interviewed by the 17th of February and they took my old tazer that day or the next. But now they are trying to follow through on the complaint that happened in December of 2009 and the girl filed the complaint in February. I do not know this girl nor do I want to know her.

I feel this is being done because the Sheriff that they wanted to win lost the election and this is retelation due to this. I am tire of having to fight to reach my retirement date. I hate to talk to anyone or associate with anyone for fear of some stupid complaint. Can I also file a personal lawsuit against teh Sheriff and Lt. Linville for the continuous harassment. I just want to be left alone I should not have to fight for my job every damn day.

Please help me before I lose total hope.

DD

Thank you.

Speak with an attorney, if you wish.

Another view, is always helpful.

You have no legal basis for prevailing, if you sue any of the people you mentioned.

Sheriff's departments are very political, and their deputies walk a difficult line.

If I were you, I'd bide my time and watch my back until I could officially pull the pin!!!

Thank you, I have contacted my union when the harassment first started and I was told that the Sheriff can assign an Deputy anywhere he wants. I am the Senior Deputy in the department but I am not one of the players who would bend the rules and not do my job. I do my job because I am proud of my work and want to keep a good reputation when I leave. I just want to get to my retirement date and I am trying so hard not to tell them to -uck off. I am very verbal and biting my tongue is getting hard. Thanks for the help.
