dismissed from school

I have been attending college for the last 2 1/2 years majoring in nursing I got my cna's and went on to get a job with a nursing home in the mean time i applied to the state nursing program that my college was offering I had done everything that was required like getting all the shots paying for insurance, given a blood test and criminal background check after everything went through the nursing board I got excepted everything was going good but when it came time for me to do Lpn clinicals my instructer told me that none of the hospitals would let me do cliniicals in their faciliaty because of my criminal history i do have a extensive history from 8 years ago mostly traffic violations one class a mistameaner no felonys is this legal can they just kick me out or do i have a case?
