Three years ago, my friend was caught under $10 shoplifting. She had been fingerprinted in Police station. The lawyer helped her to get the case dismissed with plea no guilty. Next month she will go to the fingerprinting for her green card application. Does anyone know if it will affect her green card application? How does she do? Since the case had been dismissed for three years, is there still the record exisiting?

Help Please!!!

There are always records that can be seen depending on how seriously you look. A "dismissed" case should not hurt anything. However to be certain you should ask an Attorney familar with immigration law

Thank you very much for your reply! Is the immigration officer able to see the case was dismissed or just see shoplifting? Because the case had been dismissed for three years, the attorney said everything is cleaned. Could you please let my friend know if the officer will ask such case when she goes to the fingerprinting for her green card application next month? If yes, how she responds?

Again many thanks!!!

We cannot say what the background will show but it will show the outcome. In this case dimissal
