Divorce and Credit

Just left my husband because he cheated on me. Problem is most credit cards and both car loans are in my name. Can't afford a lawyer. Filled out that "$99 Divorce" online but have not filed papers yet. Husband agreed to pay for some of the credit cards and his truck loan, we even put this in our divorce papers. The problem is they didn't even ask for account #s so I don't think it will be legal. Not sure but I really need to know how to get my name off these bills incase he defaults, I don't want to be responsible. Also we have a one year lease on the appt we shared, he is staying in it, how do I get my name off of that. I had to quit my job because I had no where to live so I can't afford legal help.

You are SOL-- a divorce is a civil issue. The creditors will take $$ from who ever will pay them, but once the $$ stops coming in -- they will go after the person on the application and if it is you -- then you will have to pay for the debt --even if your divorce states for him to pay, that is between you and him and the bill is between you and the creditor
